The City of Angels Aftermath
Since nobody would really want to start a story about what happened in Angeles City, I guess I’ll have to start it myself. To start with, me and my best buddy, Lorenzo (Zorlone), met at SM North Annex and waited for the bus en route to Dau, Pampanga. The silly poet asked me to go to the end of the map while there’s actually a bus station on MRT Taft Station. As a consolation we were still able to get a bus and got ourselves a seat at the very end of the bus.
The travel didn’t really take that long. The sleepyhead poet asked for his siesta time while on the bus when after around 5 minutes we were already at Dau, Pampanga. As per Jena’s instructions, we waited on the bus terminal as her students are also about to pick us up. We actually felt like a VIP at that time. After the CC Bloggers picked us up, the poet immediately found his comfort among the students (even at first meeting!) while inside the van and on the way to Metro Gate. I guess it’s not just my nature to really approach strangers at first compared to my poet/politician/doctor best bud.
A few moments after arriving at the Metro Gate Club House, the poet disappeared like a bubble. Only to find out he’s actually showing off his prowess in convincing people like a politician. That first hand SEO at its best and I admired him for it. Jena arrived together with the birthday celebrant, Jan. Roy (Struggling Blogger)was also there with his future bloggers.
At first, I was really hesitant to talk to Jena. After knowing her being a professor, I immediately shut down the idea of making crazy stuffs while on the event as I don’t want to end up looking like a total attention whore. I was totally wrong. Jena was really different from my perspective. She welcomed us warmly and I really admired her for being totally thoughtful and accommodating. Well, she really was. At first she doesn’t really believe I’m a Muslim and her being insistent on inviting me to eat at 3:00pm made Lorenz and Jan laugh. Even after she believed I was, she still invited me to eat a lot of times but hey, I didn’t fail her after 6:05pm.
Just a few moments later, new set of people arrived. That was when I was finally satisfying my hunger. I thought they were rest of the students who weren’t able to make it on time or maybe they had class until 6:00pm or something. They didn’t look like school staff to me (Or is it because it looks like we belong in the same age bracket around in our 23-27s. And for that I couldn’t recognize students from professors anymore. Hahaha). I met Nikes, Ryan, and Mel. (Sirs! Next time let’s hang out outside if you have the luxury of time)
Bonnie (thirdworldgeek) and Novs (ceblogger) also arrived together with his family around 3pm. After the long conversations with Jena and rest of the Influenza bloggers, I was stunned when she actually planned to take us around disco bars and KTV bars at Angeles City. After my dinner, I kept bugging the poet to take a plunge on the pool but only Roy would make the first response. But thank God, a few minutes later I was able to convince the poet. After 20 minutes of dipping myself into the cold water, the poet sounded like in a hurry. Well…he really wanted to have a drink already. So, it didn’t take too long. We left the club house and headed to Klub Bossa.
Even though we thought it was a bad idea being there because of too much noise, me and my buddy Z couldn’t hold our horses after series of good dance music. We rushed to the dance floor in front of the band and danced like crazy kids. The last time I remember doing it was like 7 years ago. It felt like the good old days. And I will never forget how that lady wanted to dance with Z but unfortunately she had a very conservative companion who doesn’t want her to face Z. After getting tired of dancing and seeing too much huge thighs, we went back to our seats only to find Jena really had fun knowing me and Z had a good time on the dance floor. She couldn’t stop laughing at us. Few moments later, we decided to move to a more private place so Jena decided to bring us to a KTV bar.
When we arrived at the KTV bar, it didn’t really take too long for me to blow my heat off after experiencing slow service and a worst of all, the damaged karaoke machine. So I personally approached the attendants to immediately resolve it. We transferred to the next room and from there we exchanged songs. I don’t know why the machine gives us 100 even if we’re not singing at all. Perhaps it’s how the company is earning money, by encouraging more people to come, sing and make people believe they’re really good at it. LOL.
In all honesty, I think only Jena appreciated the way I sing Barry Manilow and Bee Gees hits. I was never good at singing. I would only feel confident in singing with the aid of alcohol. She really enjoyed being with us and for that I was so thankful. She didn’t look at us differently. She really fitted in with us.
Around 2:30am, we called it a day. Jena, offered us her hospitality by sending us to a hotel where we can sleep well and have a breakfast in the morning.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH, JENA. We really appreciated your effort in making us feel at home and for your generosity.

oo nga naman, ba’t kailangan sa dulo pa kayo sumakay ang daming terminal ng bus sa loob? hahaha!
it was fun being with you that night Lyle!
You’re welcome Lyle. I am glad you enjoyed your stay here. All the best.

By the way, I did enjoy your singing, especially “Words”..he he he
Anytime, Roy. Basta merong time and budget. Hehehe.
@Jena Thanks Jen. Glad you liked it.
sayang, hindi ako nakasama sa kantahan. next time na lang. my dad enjoyed the singing at the clubhouse kahit na si mama at ang kapatid nya ang audience. hehe.
Wow Lyle, that seemed to be so much fun! Bakit hindi niyo ako sinama? he he he..
Anyhow, I guess I will be able to appreciate your voice. I am not into singing. Mag math competition nalang tayo, ha ha ha.
Kudos to Jena for making everything happen :)
ahahaa! the huge thighs. LoL!!!
tawa ako ng tawa dito sa office, Lyle. hahaha.. buti wala nang tao! :p
He he he!
Ang saya nung Saturday. The best ang birthday party ni Jan. Plus the CCB were like stars on TV. Star struck nga ako sa kanila. Parang ayaw ko na umuwi.
Z
My first comment disappeared. You’re welcome Lyle, and thanks too for coming. It has been a pleasure.
The best picture of this post is that of Bonnie – is that a still from Shake, Rattle and Roll movie? No, seriously, it captures the inner free spirited Bonnie. :)
@Rey: The humongous thighs Lyle were referring to belonged to the band female members. Two sets of bands all equipped with female with large thighs graced the stage. To be fair, they are good belters.
The last band we saw fared better. There’s still one with huge thighs, but the other female singer is a lot slimmer. She looks like a better dressed Pokwang though. But boy – can she sing!
Doc Z is right. Never has a place gathered so much pretty young bloggers. I’m so happy I’m in good terms with these young people. Imagine years from now if I had been a rascal to them? And facing them in a forlorn nursing home? Just imagine what I would have felt face to face with them?
Jena: Thanks for the good times and the laughter and good memories.
Oh come on Jan, do you really have to spill it out? I was just really distracted in my dancing escapades. Man, imagine that lady displaying HUGE legs and thighs.
I’m still surprised why Doc Z wasn’t even distracted at all. He can’t be disturbed at all while I’m also enjoying what I have missed 7 years ago in my life. Hahahaha.
Do they really hire those kind of band vocalists nowadays? Looks like that lady could crack the stage, literally.
ReyJr, sayang dapat andun ka. Mizdi, you’re invited to come next time.
Doc Z, star struck ha? he he he
Nothing ever surprises the people of Angeles City anymore.
Who would have thought the Americans would be driven out by Mt. Pinatubo all by its lonesome?
A crack on the stage is but a comic relief to them, I suspect.
Of course, you and Doc Z were not on crack that night, right? You must be high imbibing from the pool that night. Yes, that could be the culprit! Ahahaha
Lyle,
That’s what we call “voluptuous” in shape (fullness and beauty of form”.)
lol.
I forgot to mention that if not for Lyle and Bonnie, I would have overslept.
As a doctor, I was trained to wake up at the slightest noise. I am a light sleeper. So, around 5am, I heard noises, I thought I was back in the hospital, half expecting a nurse to call me. I woke up and heard the SNORING DRAGONS in the room!!! They were like having a conversation there.
So, I got up, waved goodbye to the sleeping dragons and left.
Z
They hid behind the throng of dancing people Jan. And I had thought they were more daring…he he he..
He he he, really Doc Z…they “sang” in unison, like dragons? What a way to describe them.
@Doc Z – Hey! If it’s not because of our SNORE LANGUAGE you wouldn’t be able to make it to your clinic on time.
@Jena – We weren’t hiding, we prefered to be on the center of the dance floor. But as we tried to make our way through it, people were bumping us and we ended into a perfect view of what we call that night “a huge dancing thighs.” I feel sorry about the shorts.
@Jan – I really think Doc Z was on crack. He must have been desperately drinking pool water to temporarily quench his thirst for beer. Hahaha
@Jena,
Yeah! I am still star struck! It has been a while since I saw a lot of beautiful people in one place.
@Jan,
Do you know how nurses get back on you on your death bed? Boy, you wouldn’t want to know. tsk tsk tsk. BTW, They are going to become doctors. hehehe. So, what more can a doctor do? Right?
BTW, I know my medicines. ;)
@Jena,
I can’t think of a better description. LOL
@Lyle,
We were too preoccupied with the other dancing women. hehehe, not at the singers.
Correction, I was the only one distracted. You were meditating while dancing.

Right on!
You guys are chicken! Quack, quack. Quack, quack!
Wait – that’s a duck sound. Paano ba ang chicken? lols
Jan, he he he… perhaps it is “chicken, chicken…”
Let’s hop over to Doc Z’s site now. He has an amazing story to tell.
ROFL!! At all of it.
But Z, your picture of the snoring dragons conversing is priceless. I used to talk in my sleep (probably still do, but hell – I’m sleeping – I wouldn’t know!) One night, my parents and I were at a hotel, and my mom said she thought my dad and I were awake and wondered why we were having this conversation at two in the morning. He’d say something and I’d answer, or vice versa. Only as she listened, she realized that none of it made any sense at all, and that we were both sound asleep!!
@Holly – Reminds me of one thing. Before me and Bonnie went to sleep, he thought he was still talking to me. Only to find out after one question that I’m snoring and off to never never land.
wahahhaha… i was actually laughing reading your stories and adventures in pampanga… now i wonder how the ladies’ man danced around in front of a pool of beautiful ladies… come to think of it… it’s been years na din since i last danced on the dance floor! nyahahahha…
i remember lyle reminding me that he really snores when drunk, or perhaps when sleeping in general.. this was the time when we went to doc Z home…
@mam jena: i’m glad to hear all these stories… makes me really drool to come to your upcoming birthday parteeh! hahahhaha…
Hello Yatot,
Kaya lang kelangan “cowboy” ka ha. lol
Kaingit naman mga bro! I hope next time makasama rin ako!
sir lyle..
it was nice being with you.. though parang ilang ka saamin.. ahehehe..

@Holly,
Let me see. The two dragons left to get some snacks. I went to bed. Since I am a light sleeper, I woke up when they got back and heard them talking.
It went on for a while, then silence… I was probably asleep or they fell asleep before me.
The next thing I remember were two different voices conversing in the silence of the morning. It was already 5 something A.M. So I got up and left the two sleeping dragons, still snoring in their sleep.
Z
PS. I was tempted to catch them on video, but, that wasn’t called for. Hey, my Guardian Angel wouldn’t have agreed anyway.
ROFL! But it would’ve been funnier if we’d played a little joke and let them think you DID, wouldn’t it?
Okay, maybe not.
hi sir lyle, nice meeting you..ehe
god bless po..

I’m bored. It’s a boring day. Don’t mind me, Lyle. I’m just reading here, remembering the good times of the Snoring Dragons. What a day it was.
I got there in a tight ball and left in a tight ball. But just the same, in spite of myself, I had the time of my life.
Wish there more times like this. Sure makes up for the dreary days, don’t they? Never mind, that’s a rhetorical question anyway.
