Exploding iPhone?

A French teenager was said to be injured after his girlfriend’s Apple iPhone exploded, sending pieces of glass flying and one piece of glass actually struck the teen in the eye. It was just two weeks ago when a report emerged accusing Apple trying to silence the victims of exploding iPods. According to the teen’s mother, his son was near his girlfriend’s iPhone when it started to make hissing noise then afterwards the screen suddenly broke. The teen’s mother contacted Apple after that incident but there’s no news whether she’s got answers from Apple.

In my own thinking, I think this has something to do with the battery. Batteries have tendencies to explode if there’s an internal defect in the phone. So, what’s Apple gonna say about this? Is this one of those Mission Impossible’s disposable phones? LOL.

  1. nooo! I was aiming to get this iPhone but then.. looks like owning one is scary… :(

I haven’t heard of Nokias exploding so… this must be a factory defect?

    sad, sad, sad. :(

  2. @Jpaul, I have heard Nokia exploding while charging.

@Lyle, maybe that’s the reason why I prefer BlackBerry over iPhone, he he. So, how’s life? Happy Birthday to your son.

  3. I think I have received an email a few years ago about a phone exploding when the owner was charging the phone and at the same time making a call.
So I guess it can really happen.

There’s this rumor that the new Iphone 3Gs overheats. Maybe it’s one of the these.
