Without having to go to the malls, I know that the games shops all over UAE have gone crazy again. With thousands of gamers waiting for their turn to buy Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty, I doubt if the shops can cater to all the fans waiting patiently outside their respective shops. I was surprised that the part 2 have more number of fans all around the world. I can see that these people are particularly after the campaign and the story. Well, the multiplayer gameplay comes after of course.
Back at the old times when the original Starcraft 1 and its expansion Broodwars was still a big hit in almost all internet cafes in Davao City, I would always play with 2 of my friends against random team of customers. Zerg was my favorite race, next to it was the Protoss. It all depends actually with what our rival would choose as their race. And my all time favorite map was Big Game Hunters.

I can’t wait to get my hands on this game. Which will be sometime next year. Hope it’ll be sooner than I expect. What are you guys waiting for? Time to spawn more overlords!

Since day one of Modern Warfare 2 release, the gaming market is still sizzling hot with fans who wanted to grab a copy of this awesome first person shooting game who actually sold 4.7 Million Copies in its first day of release. This is probably the most number of sold copies in a day. As well all know, the game is the sequel to the original Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare story.

I only find one bad part about Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare 2…is that until now I still don’t have a copy of it. And worst of all, my friend David won’t stop tormenting me about his prestige copy of Modern Warfare 2.

A newly released Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game which is heavily based on the on the Warcraft III scenario, Defense of the Ancients, boasting on tons of improvement over the original mod such as way better graphics, VoIP which is similar to ventrilo or teamspeak, no leavers, and best of all they’re using a stand alone engine.

On August 22, 2009, pre-selling of Heroes of Newerth began for the beta members. This includes name reservation and as well as additional beta keys.

LEAGUE OF LEGENDS: Clash of Fate

Developed by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows. Was first announced on October 7, 2008 and scheduled to be released in September 2009. The game has been in closed beta since April 10, 2009. The main designer of the popular scenario map, Defense of the Ancients or commonly known as DotA, Steve “Guinsoo” Feak is also involved in the making of the League of Legends.

I’m not really a big fan of Rock Band. Well, call it biased if I liked Guitar Heroes more. You can’t blame me because of the fact that they featured Metallica on one of their features. But the reason that I made an article about this is because of my love for The Beatles’ hits. I’m a 1960s and 1970s music fan. I usually listen to Neil Young, Beatles, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix and a lot more.

Rock Band reveals a list of 19 songs by the Beatles. It includes the classic hits “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” and A Hard Days Night”. Also included in the list are “Ticket to Ride”, “Helther Skelter”, “If I Needed Someone”, and “Drive My Car”. There are actually 45 more unveiled songs by MTV Games and Harmonix, the developer of Rock Band series that lets fans play the plastic guitar or drums.

“The Beatles: Rock Band” is set to be released on September 9 worldwide. For years, Beatles’ hit lists weren’t available in the Web sites such as iTunes. The game will be compatible with Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo’s Wii. It has also been said by MTV Games that the game was creatively conceived by former Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, as well as the wives of late Beatles John Lennon and George Harrison, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison respectively.

The Beatles were among the most influential band in the history and sold more than 600 million albums worldwide including “Help!,” “Revolver,” “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” “Abbey Road” and “Let It Be”. Rock Band left one mystery title from The Beatles.

I hope either of the gaming companies would feature music artists such as Jimi Hendrix or Neil Young in the near future.

Sierra Entertainment Inc, (formerly Sierra On-Line) was a Worldwide American video game developer and published founded in 1979 as Online Systems. Based in Los Angeles, California, the company was last owned by a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard (a subsidiary of Vivendi SA) Sierra is best known today for its multiple lines of seminal graphic adventure games started in the 1980s (notably King’s Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest, and Quest for Glory), some of which proved influential in the history of video games.

Sierra, which moved to Bellevue from Northern California in 1994, makes video games for Windows-based PCs and hand-held devices, such as the Nintendo GameBoy. The company also makes consoles, such as the Sony PlayStation2 and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox.

But, a sad story came out in the news. Sierra is laying off 110 employees over the next two months as part of their major reorganization at their parent company Vivendi Universal Games. The parent company has been saddled with debt for more than two years , and has been the frequent subject of acquisition rumors involving their competitors, Microsoft and Sony.

The 110 employees about to be laid off are part of the 350 manpower reduction.

Before I start my post, I would like to apologize for the delay of this next post. It actually took me awhile huh? Real life issues and some errands needs to be done. And partly, I blame World of Warcraft. LOL

There have been many controversial game titles over the years but none, except one, have come as far as being banned in a few countries. Grand Theft Auto is one of those title series that has appeared in the news being blamed for antisocial behaviour among the youth. Yet, despite this shady outlook of the game among the elder generation, it cannot be denied that Grand Theft Auto is a game that has broken boundaries and changed the industry for the better. It’s been only a few weeks since I got addicted to Call of Duty 5: World at War. I couldn’t stop playing online and have the feel of World War II environment. The sound of gun shots, frag grenades, panzer bazooka, and the tank turrets firing everywhere amazed me like crazy. But what’s so special about this game that dragged me into addiction is the online ranking. Good God! I am now a Master Sergeant II. Didn’t even care about the frigging ranks. All I cared about is the thrill of camping+sniping. Hehehe.

And just a few days after I played COD5, my business partner, David introduced me to a whole new Call of Duty, the Modern Warfare. I felt like I’m back to my old Counter Strike days when I saw him playing online. With all the new modern weapons and the totally different gameplay, he even convinced me to try it out. (He even asked me to buy an original one so we can play together and own maps. What a crazy COD4 addict, bah!) I’d give the gameplay and graphics a score of 8 out of 10. 

While we were playing he discussed to me about the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 which is supposed to come out later this year. It will be a sequel to the Modern Warfare of course. So when I woke up this morning, I saw one blog page with the following leaks to the Modern Warfare 2. Isn’t it a nice preview? (David, here’s for you! Cheers! LOL)
