Back From The Long Slumber

It’s been awhile since I have opened the dashboard of my very own personal punching bag of rants. The very first thing that caught my attention was this notice: “WordPress 3.3.1 is available! Please update now”. Curiously I checked my current version and to my surprise I am still using WordPress 2.9.2. When I was reading the log files for the changes, I laughed when I found out that I have been slacking for a year and a half. To make things short, I’m a cave man again in blogging. To all who followed my blog and wanted to know what really happened, I think I owe you a summarized story of what happened to me all these times.
It was the last quarter of 2009 when I temporarily joined an IT company here in Sharjah, UAE. It was quite a challenge but the company really upgraded my technical and troubleshooting skills. The only problem I had was the timings. I usually go home 10pm onwards. Then, just a few months later, I was hired by the biggest sportswear retailer in the middle east who happened to be the exclusive distributor of Nike. Working on different shifts was not easy and the first few months made me want to only rest and sleep on my free times.

I was only a month old in the company when a shocking news devastated me; my father passed away untimely. My lament lasted for quite a long time. Adding to the injury, a lot of disappointments and confusion came into my life. I didn’t know where to start. From there, a lot plans and changes needs to be made specially that our priority is our mom who is now living all alone in our house.

I decided to learn Wing Chun Kung Fu; a very deadly form of martial arts that specializes in close-quarter combat. It favors the weak specially women and people with small built.  I tried to approach and learned from different teachers and schools. Finally I ended up learning from someone who dedicated almost all his lifetime to learn different forms and styles of martial arts. He is my teacher, my friend, and a father to me. Until now I’m still learning from him and I’m proud to be on the half of the system already.

Then, there were a few good things that came into my life that added light while I’m still on my darkest moments. And there were also quite a few disappointing and sad moments that they were too difficult to bear. Life is tough and it’s the reality we all have to face. But it’s not about how you fail, it’s all about how you fail and keep moving on. Quitters never win.

Anyway, so much for the “excuse letter”. I’m happy to be back in blogging and I’m looking forward to improve and update my other website which is my portfolio. Thank you very much to all those who waited and still supported me until now.
